Catchment Area
Out of area patients
From January 2015, the Government provided GP practices with the option to register people at their practice who were not living in their practice area. Hanley Primary Care Centre has decided to offer this new service as we believe that many people who commute into the City of London for work find it difficult to access GP services during the working day, which in turn can compromise their health and wellbeing.
It is important to note that by registering with the Hanley Primary Care Centre as an out of area patient, requests for home visits would need to be provided by the NHS services near to where an individual lives and would be accessed through ringing NHS 111.
Temporary registration
If you’re ill while away from home or not registered with a GP, you can get emergency treatment from a local GP for up to 14 days. After that, you’ll need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
You can be a temporary patient for up to 3 months. This lets you use a local GP while staying registered with your usual one. After 3 months, you must either register again or become a permanent patient at that practice.
